My counter-top ice maker had stopped working because the ice tray wouldn't rotate into the correct position. When I took the ice maker apart I found the shaft of the ice tray servo motor was so corroded I couldn't turn the shaft even with a pair of vise grips.
What I had readily available to clean the motor shaft was a spray can of
AMSOIL Firearms Cleaner and Protectant. I sprayed the shaft and let it soak in for a little while. I then tried turning the motor shaft by hand using vise grips to hold the servo motor shaft. At first I was only able to get a little bit of movement, but before too long I had the servo motor shaft turning freely again.
I repaired the ice maker several months ago, and the ice maker has been working correctly ever since the repair. The AMSOIL Firearms Cleaner and Protectant works on more than just firearms.
